they picked chase’s room as the gathering place for the story. i was on the bed. chase was (supposed) to be laying down in his bed. still. aiden was in chase’s anywhere chair on the floor and colton was sitting beside her. i preface every reading time with the rules. sit or lay quietly, still, and keep your hands and feet to yourselves. i opened the book to where we left off the night before and began reading. and as always, chase begins to move. (technically he had never gotten still in the first place.) the child can NOT sit still…no matter how hard he tries. he is constant motion, that one. so, the bed is shaking as he is bouncing and moving and kicking the wall and i am getting increasingly more frustrated. i keep stopping and telling him to be still. finally, i stop and say, “chase…are you going to lay down or not?” he replies innocently, “i’ll think about it.” i begin reading again and notice out of the corner of my eye that siden is getting quite fidgity as well. she leaned back in colton’s chair it
